Who is Joi Ito?
We had a surprise guest for our first class. His name is Joichi “Joi” (pronounced like Joey) Ito and he is the reason why our teacher, Rebecca MacKinnon, left TV journalism for new media.
Joi is a venture capitalist, not a journalist, though one with a very interesting life story. His company, based in Tokyo, is called Neoteny, which means “the rentention of childlike characteristics in adulthood.”
